Healthy Recipes As part of our mission, FoodChange offers many programs and projects to ensure that New York City residents have access to and choose a diet rich in healthy and wholesome foods produced in a sustainable way. Our programs promote wholesome, plant-based, diets comprised of seasonal foods. To encourage people of all ages to adopt healthier eating habits, we have developed a broad array of easy-to-use plant-based recipes, primarily using locally grown seasonal produce. These recipes have been regrouped in three major categories The SchoolFood Plus recipes are wholesome, plant-based recipes developed by Chefs at SchoolFood, New York City Department of Education, as part of the SchoolFood Plus Initiative. These recipes are prepared and served in New York City public school cafeterias that participate in the SchoolFood Plus Cafeteria program. All recipes are developed around eight plant foods, which are, or can potentially be grown, in New York State. These eight foods are also the same foods that students learn about in the CookShop ® Classroom program. CookShop ® Classroom Recipes The recipes of CookShop ® Classroom are created for Pre-K—2 nd grade children who prepare and consume the foods in a classroom setting. While fairly simple in nature, they stress wholesome, plant-based nutrition. And, to encourage young people to eat the right foods, our nutrition experts endeavor to make these plant-based foods as savory and pleasing to the palate as possible. To access our CookShop ® Classroom recipes, click here. 3- CookShop ® for Adults Recipes CookShop ® for Adults teaches adults who are eligible for, or participate in, the Food Stamp Program how to purchase, store, cook, and enjoy fresh vegetables in season. CookShop ® for Adults promotes a plant-based, whole-foods diet of minimally processed foods, helps develop participants' cooking skills, and increases their ability and motivation to prepare more home-cooked meals from scratch.
